The difference between Knowing and Believing

General Musings

My mother once told me that every so often God will take you from what you know, to what you believe.  Friday was one of those days.  I have to admit that I have been pretty stressed out about the wedding.  There seems to be no end of expenses but very little money to cover them all.  While I was freaking out about the cost and worrying about how we were going to make this happen, my mom was planning away like there was nothing to worry about.  She kept saying, “We are just going to keep planning and do what we do, and let God do what he is going to do.”  Now I know that God is able to provide us with everything that we need. Ephesians 3:20 tells us that He is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think”.  Apparently I didn’t believe it though because I was super bummed about the whole scenario while I was at work on Friday.  While sitting at my desk worrying about how I was going to make this wedding happen, I got a text message from a family member letting me know that they would be able to help out with money for the wedding.  Not only that but they are able give us half up front to help with deposits for vendors.  But the Lord didn’t stop there. Do you ever notice how He always goes over the top with His blessings? A few hours later I get called into a meeting with the president of the company.  As I am sitting down the other two owners come in and join us for the meeting.  They start out by telling me what I good job I have done over the past year and then proceed to tell me that they are giving me a promotion and a raise!  They just wanted to let me know before they announce it to the rest of the company at the Christmas party that evening.  Within three hours I was taken from a place of worry and disbelief, to a place of total provision and faith that God will provide for all my needs.  Awesome!
