Dead to Sin

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20

It’s not uncommon for Christians to “own” their sin.  I am as guilty of this as the next guy.  Maybe more.  The fact of the matter is that all to often we give sin more credit than it deserves.  How often have you thought to yourself, “Well that’s just my sin.  That’s where I tend to stumble.  This area is where I have the most problems.  I am weakest when it comes to this or that.  I am going to struggle with that for the rest of my life. This is my sin.”  Too often we forget that as Christians we have been crucified with Christ.  Romans 6:11 says “Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Jesus Christ.”  We are no longer in bondage to sin!  “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out “Abba! Father!”” (Romans 8:15).  Regardless, there are still many of us that try and pull that old man off the cross and slip back into his skin.  Stop It!  As you go about your day today remember that you have been set free from sin!  All sin.  Even Your sin.  Christian, you don’t have to sin anymore!  You no longer have to do those things that you do not want to do because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

For those of you who are anything like me and still struggle, and you will struggle ’cause lets face it sanctification is a process, read Romans 6.  It will blow your mind!
